Washington State Rhodonite
Rhodonite as it is found in the field, with typical black manganese oxide coating. Only large, competent pieces are hand harvested with minimal surface disturbance, varying in weight between a few kilos to in excess of 150 kilos to date (pieces in photograph are labelled in pounds). Specific gravity as measured by the water displacement method shows a range between 3.02 to 4.01 (average 3.43), reflecting the varying amounts of accessory minerals. Hardness is typically in the 5.5 to 6.5 on the moh’s scale. The material is highly competent and suitable for slabbing, carvings, beads, cabochons and beads.
Over 2,500 Kg of this Rhodonite material is currently available in rough blocks. Minimum lot size is 500 kilos. Interested parties should contact the Company for prices.
